Objective
These activities aim to entice readers to explore the dietary culture and master chefs of Taiwan by utilizing collections and resources combining knowledge and the practice from experts in the catering field.

Lantern Festival, Lantern Quiz and Mercuries Gifts

Time
Held once to twice a year when the Lantern Festival does not fall on the weekend, or in conjunction with the celebrations for other special festivals. (Discontinued in 2012)
Purpose
To promote the use of the library, encourage interactions between company employees and build corporate rapport. To realize the library's function of “education through entertainment”, 40~60 food related lantern quiz questions are issued, with participants expected to use the library to find the answers. These include using the books, periodicals, database, academic theses and published papers, with the answers printed or copied using the library equipment, in order to promote the effective use of all library resources.
Event Format
Participants are asked to use the library collection to find the answers to 40~60 lantern quiz questions related to Chinese dietary culture. Those that score correctly on the day of the Lantern Festival will receive a Mercuries gift.
Sponsors
Mercuries subsidiary enterprises including the Mercuries Department Store, Mercuries Beef Noodle Chain and Mercuries FuBao.
